Poke-A-Stick Lava Tours provides a professional guide service to the only flows in Hawaii here on the Big Island
Aloha and E Komo Mai (Welcome) !
Kalapana Lava Refuge and Poke A Stick Guided tours were created with the adventurous traveler in mind. Come and see what life is like on the edge of an active volcano! Here you can experience the untamed side of the ever-changing Big Island – the outlaw Puna District – where just about any adventure imaginable can become a reality.
In Kalapana, even the landscape changes from day to day!
Here you can explore 20 acres of lava flows, fruit trees, and coconut plantation without even leaving the Refuge. And within easy hiking distance you will discover miles of unspoiled lava flows and pristine coastline. Then at the end of a busy day, you can return to the peaceful sanctuary of the Lava Refuge, where you can relax in the hammock or refresh yourself at “The Cockeyed Pig”, our private Tiki Bar.
Not Fo’ Wimps!
Leave your fuzzy slippers at home and pack your hiking boots instead. Kalapana Lava Refuge was designed and built for off-the-grid outdoor living — Hawaiian style. We produce our own power, water, and food – and do much of our cooking over an open fire pit. If you are looking for a five-star luxury holiday, turn back now before it’s too late!
Here is your chance to leave civilization, noise and over-development behind for awhile. Our cabins are clean and comfortable and we provide all the services you will need while on your adventure holiday.
Life is good in the shadow of Madame Pele (the Hawaiian volcano goddess). We invite you to find out for yourself – please contact us for more information!
